Bastiaan Brouwer

Before he joined Takt, Bastiaan started his career in the energy sector. He witnessed and participated in one of the most radical business restructuring and culture changes processes of the past decades. Liberalisation and privatisation made employees of the utility companies suddenly started to think in customer value rather than seeing a customer solely as a fysicial technical connection.

As consultant Bastiaan focuses not only improving the operational process, but also on the development of strategy and the change management process. This is less obvious than it might look. Lean has to meet the goals of the company and the needs of its employees. In that manner Lean will contribute to the company’s improvements in stead of being a goal at its own.

Bastiaan’s strength is in his analytical skills combined with sensibility, which allow him to clearly structure and solve complex business challenges and to present them in a comprehensible manner. He knows to find the right speed in difficult transformation processes.

Bastiaan is an optimist and believes that we all want to make the best out of our jobs. On this believe he also bases his work. Resistance to change does not exist. If you can make people see what’s good for them and how they can be successful, they’ll automatically adapt and propagate the change.

“Lean for Bastiaan is like a rowing-sloop: You don’t have to alter dramatically the material to be fast. If you pursue the same goals together and you’re able to find the right rhythm, you’ll win. If you loose the rhythm and everyone goes their own way, you’ll be taken over by the competition.”
